Prototype Information

The E5 series, which was introduced as "Hayabusa" in 2011, began coupled operation with the E6 series in 2013, and as of 2022, operates at a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph). In recent years, luggage storage areas have been added inside the train to accommodate larger baggage, and as a result, some of the windows have been blocked off.

• Four-unit E5 series Shinkansen set comprising cars 1, 6, 7 and 10 of the full 10-car Hayabusa formation.
• Combine with Tomix 98498 3-unit Add-on Set A and Tomix 98499 3-unit Add-on Set B to assemble the entire trainset.
• The anti-slip roof is reproduced with gray printing.
• Hayabusa logo, Gran Class mark and car number are printed.
• Car numbers are changeable with the transfer sheet included with the add-on set (sold separately).
• Equipped with moveable coupler cover and moveable pantograph.
• The driver's cab end of E514, which couples with the E6 series trainset in prototype operation, is equipped with a TN coupler.
• Headlights are illuminated by white LEDs, while taillights are illuminated by red LEDs. ON-OFF switch for lighting on car E514.
• Flywheel motor mechanism uses M-13 motor.
