How does Pre-Ordering work at Southern Crescent Hobby?
- Find an item you'd like to pre-order and add it to your cart.
- Choose one of two options:
- Pay Now - Pay the full purchase price of the item at checkout, including applicable taxes and shipping charges. When your item arrives to our warehouse, it will ship immediately. Please note the expected delivery timeline when placing a Pay Now order - some items can have extremely long wait times!
- Pay Later - Pay the full purchase price of the item when it is due to arrive at our warehouse, including applicable taxes and shipping charges. Your card information will be securely and privately captured at the time of ordering but not charged at that time. When your item is due to arrive at our warehouse, you will be charged and your item will ship once it arrives.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
We consider pre-orders to be a firm commitment to purchase a product. If you must cancel a pre-order, let us know in writing as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate the needs of our customers as often as we can. That being said, pre-orders require that we make firm commitments to our suppliers to pre-order product and we cannot cancel after the pre-order period has closed. We must pay for all pre-ordered items delivered and cannot return them. Therefore:
- If the pre-order period for the item has not yet closed:
- If you selected "Pay Now" when you placed your pre-order, we will refund your money to your original method of payment and remove you from the pre-order list.
- If you selected "Pay Later" when you placed your pre-order, we will cancel your order, remove you from the pre-order list and your method of payment will not be charged.
- If the pre-order period for the item has closed:
- If you selected "Pay Now" when you placed your pre-order, we will issue you equivalent store credit, cancel your order and remove you from the pre-order list.
- If you selected "Pay Later" when you placed your pre-order, we will cancel your order, remove you from the pre-order list and your method of payment will not be charged.

Multiple instances of orders being cancelled after pre-order periods have closed may result in order refusal for future pre-order items.
What if I'm unable to pay on the final payment date?
If you know that you will not be able to pay the balance of your order on the scheduled final payment date, please contact us as soon as possible. We will work with you in good faith to reach a solution for delayed payment and shipping. Please note that no product will be shipped without full and complete payment of all outstanding balance due.
What happens if a manufacturer cancels or delays an item I've pre-ordered?
If a manufacturer cancels or delays an item you've pre-ordered, we'll pass that information on to you. For canceled items, any paid funds will be refunded. For delayed items, we will consider refunds and cancelations on a case-by-case basis at customer request. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
Can I use a coupon on my pre-order?
No, we do not allow coupons on pre-orders.
Can I use store credit on my pre-order?
Yes, at Southern Crescent Hobby we consider store credit as good as cash. Email us first to let us know you'd like to use your store credit and we will take care of you.
When will my pre-order arrive?
We make every effort to communicate expected arrival dates for pre-orders. Whenever possible, we will include information in the item's product page on our website and update it if we learn of changes. If you have any questions about the status of a pre-ordered item, please contact us.
Can I Pre-Order something you don't have on your website?
Yes! We can pre-order just about anything from most of your favorite model railroad brands. There are many thousands of items available for pre-order at any given time. We can only select a small quantity of campaigns to push on our website, but just because you don't see it listed here doesn't mean we can't get it!
Please take note of the following regarding Unlisted Pre-Order Requests before submitting the form below:
- Your information submitted as part of this form does not subscribe you to marketing communications and will not be used for any other purpose besides contacting you regarding your pre-order request.
- Submitting this form is only a request for information.
- Submitting this form does not obligate you to complete any purchase, nor does it reserve a pre-order for the items you specify.
- All pre-order requests are subject to availability. Some pre-order items sell out before reaching the manufacturer's published pre-order deadline, while others can be ordered after the pre-order deadline in certain cases. Each situation is different.
- If we communicate to you that an item is available and you intend to reserve it for pre-order, we will create a custom order for you in our system. You must complete this order with method of payment on file before your item will be reserved.
