Tomix FM-009 First Car Museum Display Unit, 500 Series Tokaido Sanyo Shinkansen "Nozomi"

Prototype Information

The 500 series Shinkansen began operating in 1997 along the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines on Nozomi superexpress services. 500 series sets were removed from Nozomi service beginning in 2008, shortened to eight-car sets and operated along the Sanyo Shinkansen line only until 2026, when JR West announced full and final retirement of the type by early 2027.

Tomix's First Car Museum series allows you to display your favorite Japanese trains on your desk, bookshelf or other desired location without needing to construct a full layout or purchase fully-equipped motorized models. Each entry in this series replicates the lead vehicle of a popular or famous Japanese train type as a non-running static model that can be displayed on its own or with a separately sold First Car Museum Power Unit (FM-017) which uses battery power to illuminate the model and simulate a train depot or tunnel portal.
